There's nothing in this world I wouldn't do;

[ Things are stressful for the Pine's family, for Mabel more so than anyone else. It doesn't help that none of them know exactly what happened, Mabel had wandered into the room only after Dipper had seemingly stabbed himself through.It's something she doesn't understand in the slightest. But not understanding doesn't mean much, and despite wanting to figure out why Dipper had been acting strangely, why he had talked to himself, like he wasn't who he said he was--she doesn't leave his side to try and find out. Really, the only time she isn't right there with him is when the doctors cart him away to patch him up, and even then she isn't  that far. There's just a wall or two between her and the operating room, and her back's up against it.

On the first night, the doctors try to shuffle her out, once visiting hours are over. But she kicks, screams, and cries in a way that isn't like her at all. She's supposed to be the positive sibling, the one with a constant cheery outlook, but her brother is in trouble. He's lying there unconscious and wounded, and she's never been more scared in her life. Grunkle Stan tries to calm her down, but she can't seem to get enough air in her lungs to explain herself, and "What if we're gone, and he wakes up?" is all she can manage, even if that's not all she's worried about. And while she can't seem to voice them, her unasked questions hang heavy and clearly understood;

What if we're gone and he dies?

In the end, once Mabel has calmed down enough to sit quietly in a chair by Dippers bed, Grunkle Stan bribes the doctor and pays him off with hushed words and a few Benjamin's.  "That's her twin brother you've got lyin' there. Just let her stay, she won't be any trouble..."  And Mabel isn't. It's almost like she isn't there. She stays up late, sticking inspirational stickers to the medical equipment in places that aren't immediately noticeable, and whenever the nurses come in to check on her brother she stays off to the side, only asking questions once they're finished;

Is he okay? Is he gonna wake up soon? Has anything changed?

Days pass, and no one can tell her anything concrete.They still don't know if he's going to pull through, and despite the reassuring words they offer Mabel, she can hear them when they talk to Grunkle Stan in the hallway. She knows they don't have high hopes. It's been days and he hasn't woken up yet...but Mabel doesn't give up. She sticks a small 'get well soon!' sticker to his forehead, and stays right by his side always, even when she can feel sleep dragging her down and away.

When Dipper does manage to wake up, it's late. Grunkle Stan has long since left for the day, but not Mabel. She's asleep, slumped over the end of the bed, a sticker book under one hand and journal three clutched in the other. She's still wearing a colorful sweater, but her eyes are red and her hair is tangled. It's been a very trying couple of days. ]
